Dealer Profile – Action Automatic Door and Gate

George Ebel, CEO of Action Automatic Door & Gate, didn’t recognize the potential of retractable screens as part of their product line when he was first approached. “To be honest, I just didn’t know how they’d do,” said Ebel. A Titan Screen dealer since early 2013, his company is now one of the nation’s top Titan dealers, selling screens on a weekly basis. “Titan Screens have been a great addition to our product line. Our customers love it.”

According to Ebel, one of his keys to success in screen sales are the full size showroom displays. He explains that demonstrating the screens in action is crucial to making the sale. In an area with a large population of retirement-aged people, having an option for a screen that retracts at a simple push of a button is a real plus. While Action Automatic Door & Gate offers a non-motorized, fixed-frame screen option, Ebel says that there is little crossover of people who are interested in both. “Older people, shorter people, and often women are most interested in a motorized option,” he explained.

Another advantage Titan Screen offers for his customers is how Titan Screen retracts discreetly into a housing unit that can be installed inside the door opening. With a high profile vehicle, the fixed frame screen often doesn’t provide the needed headroom in the garage.

While Action Automatic’s thriving garage door and security gate business is their main focus, the progressive-minded Ebel has his sights on increasing the screen sales as well. Until now, they had exclusively sold Titan Screens for garage door openings, but recently sold a ten-opening project for a lanai and rear exterior of a home. With plans to actively market Titan Screen in both print and broadcast media, Action Automatic Door & Gate seeks to continue growing their Titan Screen sales, making it an integral part of their business plan.

About Action Automatic Door & Gate
Action Automatic Door & Gate started as Toledo Automatic Door Company in 1974 when CEO George Ebel placed a $100 advertisement in a local newspaper while in college in Toledo, Ohio. (The business is no longer associated with the Toledo operation.) Ebel opened his first Southwest Florida location in Naples at 275 Airport Road North in 1981, and a second one at 11360 Metro Parkway in Fort Myers in 1984. The business started out offering 13 automatic door openers, and expanded in the late 1970s to include selling entire packages of openers and doors, and providing 24-hour service for all brands. Today, George is still at the helm of one of the most successful garage door and automatic gate system companies in the country. For more information, call (239) 768-3667.
